Description

This work abandons projection assistance software usage, instead aiming to flatten events into an integral image to create a cityscape with cross-temporal and cross-spatial effects, representing a cross-cultural experience. It conveys the concept of spatial time, centered on the globalized downtown Toronto. The vivid blue of the Toronto sky serves as the main tone, subtly suggesting the photos' location, as this is often the impression Toronto leaves on visitors. Through this experiment, the artist aims to create the illusion of infinitely extending space using a corner as the medium, where any surface (ceiling, floor, or walls) connected by this corner can evoke this sensation for the viewer. The collage also involves a reflection on the contingency of modern times. Given that the photos in the piece were taken by different people at various times using different devices, many of the captured moments were beyond one's control. The overall work seeks to convey a contradictory atmosphere: the left side represents the actual quiet state of a melancholic figure drinking tea, while the right side symbolizes the noisy external conditions around him, inviting the audience to reflect on uncertainty and self-existence, and then contemplate the future.
